NECOG-DC Revolving Loan Fund Success Stories BOWDLE BUILDING AND HARDWARE CENTER, INC., BOWDLE:When it became necessary for Evelyn Heilman to move her business to a new location she contacted NECOG-DC. With the funding provided she was able to purchase the former sales barn and renovate it to fit the needs of the Bowdle Building and Hardware Center. She now has more room for a sales floor and inside storage for inventory. DAMAR FARMERS ELEVATOR, LANGFORD:With the nearest grocery store and convenience store located 17 miles away DaMar Farmers Elevator saw a need for their area. In order for a new convenience store and gas station to be built in Langford, NECOG-DC partnered with other lenders to complete the project. Now people have a place to get their gas and purchase necessities. The c-store also serves as a place to hang out with friends or grab a bite to eat after an event. FREDERICK LOUNGE, FREDERICK:In 2008 the owners of the Frederick Lounge closed their doors and decided to sell the building. Frederick Development Corporation believed that it was important to purchase the building to ensure the town would retain a place that could operate as a restaurant and bar. To ease the financial strain of an individual owning the building, the Frederick Development purchased the Frederick Lounge and rents it back to the operator. LEOLA GROCERY, LEOLA:Natalie Dempsey with the assistance of the NECOG Development Corporation was able to purchase the Leola Grocery Store and keep this vital resource in the community. Having a grocery store in Leola means residents will not need to travel to purchase milk, fresh produce, or other necessities. PREMIUM COMPOSITES, LLC, VEBLEN:Premium Composites is a leading manufacturer of state of the art wood composite products including; decking, railing, and other engineered systems. When they were in need of additional operating capital, NECOG-DC became part of the financial package. As the company continues to grow, NECOG-DC was able to further assist them with an additional loan. ![]() SAGE HOUSE, IPSWICH: This restaurant was able to stay open for the community when the new owner, Debra Huntsinger, purchased it from the existing owners. With a nice clean and cozy atmosphere patrons are able to sit down and enjoy a home cooked meal or just stop by for ice cream. ![]() THE ART BANK, MOBRIDGE: When Ryan and Erin Wheeler decided to start a business they contacted NECOG-DC for assistance. Needing to relocate from the west coast to Mobridge, Ryan’s hometown, while starting a business was challenging. However, their dedication and sacrifice has paid off and now The Art Bank is open. The Art Bank specializes in the creation of museum quality reproductions of artists’ original works and they also do framing as well as display artists’ pieces. VOWAC PUBLISH CO., INC., FAULKTON:Established in 1983, VoWac Publishing Company produces Orton-Gillingham based PreK – 4 Phonics and Spelling curriculum for public, private, and home schools. In 1997 John and Colleen Pfeifer became partners and purchased the company in 2002. John and Colleen were able to make this business acquisition with the assistance of the NECOG-DC revolving loan fund. VoWac Publishing Company serves over 2000 schools in 35 states as well as Japan, China, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea. One will also fine VoWac materials in missionary schools in Africa. With four full-time employees in Faulkton, VoWac contracts with sixteen trainers in 9 states extending coast-to-coast.
